Teaching practice phase 1 ( first week)

Today marked the beginning of my teaching practice at SCVBHS Chirayinkeezh, a boys-only school. From our college, 4 student-teachers from English optional alloted to this school named Aswathy c, Aswathy prasad, krishna prasad and Gayathri SB.l am  the schoolleader. As it was my first day to school I was very excited, at the same a little bit nervous because it was my first experience as a teacher in a school. We all reached the school before 9:30 am and met the HM of the school and we signed the register. Then we went to see our corresponding teachers and inquired about the portions. The class alloted to me was 8C and my portion was the chapter 'Nightingale and the Rose'. It's a simple and beautiful chapter.

We were given staffroom to sit and we make a friendly rappot with the teachers. They gave a warm welcome to us. On monday, my hour is in the first period.

The first week was filled with lot of happiness and excitement.Teaching in a school environment for the first time was really a new experience for me. As one week progressed, I became familiar with the school layout, routines, and most importantly, the students. I became familiar with each student especially the students who faced difficulty in learning, their needs etc and it enhanced my connection with the class. My students of 8D are really active and smart. They actively participate in group activities and show great interest in it. I am also able to manage the class while teaching. But 2 or 3 students had difficulty in learning and I gave special attention to them and address to them personally about the content.

Reflecting on this week, I recognized my  two significant areas for improvement. Firstly, my blackboard writing skills that needs attention. Clarity and legibility are very important and I am trying to refine this aspect. So I am actively enhancing my blackboard writing skills. Secondly, time management emerged as a challenge as many students take more time for construction. So I am trying to manage the time and complete the content in time. I am looking forward to improve all of this and taking better classes in the coming days.
